“EDMONTON – The Alberta government says it expects to get another big stretch of Highway 63 ready to be twinned this year.
About 250 pieces of equipment and 400 workers will be grading 60 kilometres to get it ready for paving.
Trees will also be cleared for another 55 kilometres.
Jeanna Friedley with Alberta Transportation says despite that, it will be a squeeze to meet its accelerated schedule for twinning the highway by 2016.
She says there are fewer construction days in northeastern Alberta than in other parts of the province due to frost coming out of the ground later and more rain and snow.
The province wants to open up eight passing lanes this summer and build the new Lac La Biche bridge by summer 2014.”

Well, finally the site is up and active. I imagine there have been a lot of people who have come to the site and left disappointed because there was nothing posted. It is my hope that they will eventually return and that the site will become a prime source of information for them.

The sub-heading is “a road of dreams and tragedy” and I hope people will share their stories, good and bad, about experiences on the highway as well as life in Fort McMurray, Fort Mackay and elsewhere and about experiences in the industry along the highway.
